View this email in your browser September Update The Middlesex 2031 Festival has, raised just over £1,150,000 to date, thanks to the tremendous generosity and commitment of Middlesex Freemasons, their families and friends. As the Festival continues towards its 2031 goal, we are delighted to announce a further series of charitable grants supporting hospices, hospitals, people with learning disabilities, and military veterans. These latest awards demonstrate how the generosity of our members is already making a meaningful difference to individuals, families and communities across Middlesex and beyond. The Festival is about much more than reaching a fundraising target. It is about coming together as a Province and using what we can achieve collectively to make a lasting difference to people who need our help. Making a Difference in Our Communities Following our earlier donations of £15,000 each to Shooting Star Children’s Hospices and St Luke’s Hospice, the Festival is delighted to confirm a further series of charitable awards. These grants reflect the wishes of the Brethren, including the valuable feedback received through the Pro’s Postbox, and will support a wide range of projects providing essential care, specialist medical technology and opportunities for those who need them most. Supporting Advances in Healthcare Harefield Hospital – £10,000 The Festival is pleased to award £10,000 to the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity towards the purchase of an Ion Endoluminal Robotic System. This innovative technology represents an important development in the diagnosis of lung cancer. It enables clinicians to navigate deep into the lungs and reach very small or difficult-to-access lung nodules that can be challenging to reach using conventional bronchoscopy. Our contribution will help support access to technology that can assist clinicians in diagnosing potentially serious conditions earlier and more precisely, potentially improving outcomes for patients and their families. Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals – £10,000 A further £10,000 has been awarded to Ashford & St Peter’s NHS Charitable Trust towards the purchase of Aquablation Technology for the treatment of benign prostate enlargement. Aquablation is a minimally invasive, robotic treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), offering clinicians a highly precise way of treating the condition, with the potential to improve the experience and outcomes for patients. Both Harefield Hospital and Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals received the highest number of votes through the Pro’s Postbox at the May and June Craft and Royal Arch Annual General Meetings. We are particularly pleased to be able to reflect the wishes of the Brethren through these awards. Helping Children Through Technology and Play Lifelites and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices – £36,000 The Festival is delighted to support an ambitious four-year partnership between Lifelites and Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice, both of which received significant support through the Festival voting process. A commitment of £36,000 over four years, representing £9,000 per year, will help provide specialist assistive and entertainment technology, expert training and ongoing technical support for children living with life-shortening conditions. Lifelites provides specialist technology and equipment that enables seriously ill and disabled children to experience play, communication, learning and connection with the world around them. The partnership is expected to benefit more than 650 children and their families each year, helping children to communicate, play, connect and enjoy experiences at a time when these things matter most. The initial technology installation at Shooting Star Chase is planned for 18 and 19 November 2026. This partnership builds upon the Festival’s earlier £15,000 donation to Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice and represents a significant commitment to improving the experiences of children and their families. Supporting People with Learning Disabilities Tanglewood Monday Club – £3,000 The Festival is also delighted to award £3,000 to the Tanglewood Monday Club, a social welfare charity based in Harrow that provides recreational and leisure facilities for people living with learning disabilities. The Club received strong support during the first Pro’s Postbox draw at the Festival launch. At that time, however, its Chairman generously advised that there was no immediate need for funding. Since then, damage to the Club’s two pool tables has created a specific need, and the Club approached the Festival for assistance. Our £3,000 grant will contribute towards replacement pool tables, helping Tanglewood continue to provide valued facilities, activities and opportunities for its members. This award is a wonderful example of how the Festival can respond to the changing needs of local organisations and provide practical assistance where it will make a genuine difference. Supporting Our Military Veterans and Blue Light Communities The highly successful Middlesex 2031 Festival Abseil in August provided a further opportunity to support three charities doing vital work with military veterans, injured service personnel and members of our emergency services. We are delighted to fulfil our commitment to these organisations through donations of £1,000 each. PTSD999 – £1,000 Supporting therapy and specialist assistance for those affected by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including members of the emergency services. Pilgrim Bandits – £1,000 Supporting injured military and blue light personnel, helping them overcome challenges, rebuild confidence and live life to the full. Cockleshell 22 – £1,000 Supporting expeditions and experiences that honour our military forebears while using adventure, camaraderie and shared purpose to transform lives. These donations recognise the invaluable contribution of those who have served our country and communities, and the importance of supporting them when they face challenges of their own. £1.15 Million Raised – And Making a Difference Already The Middlesex 2031 Festival has now raised just over £1,150,000, an achievement made possible by the remarkable generosity and commitment of Middlesex Freemasons who are supporting our Festival. The Festival’s charitable giving is already delivering tangible benefits, from supporting compassionate hospice care and pioneering medical technology to improving the lives of children, people with learning disabilities and those who have served in our armed forces and emergency services. The latest awards represent a further £62,000 of charitable commitments, including the four-year partnership with Lifelites, and build upon the £30,000 previously awarded to St Luke’s Hospice and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. Together, these commitments demonstrate the Festival’s determination to ensure that the funds raised are put to meaningful use, supporting those who need our help while the Festival continues towards its ultimate goal. The Pro’s Postbox remains an important way for members to help shape our charitable giving, and we encourage the Brethren to continue sharing their suggestions for worthy causes and organisations that could benefit from the Festival’s support. Thank You for Your Continued Support None of these achievements would be possible without the continued generosity, enthusiasm and commitment of the Brethren who are supporting our Festival. Whether through individual donations, regular giving, fundraising events or simply encouraging others to become involved, every contribution helps us move closer to our Festival goal while making a positive difference along the way. With just over £1.15 million raised to date, we have much to celebrate, but there is still more to achieve. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Middlesex 2031 Festival so far. Your generosity is already changing lives, and together we can continue to make a lasting difference. Middlesex Freemasonry
![]() Dear Brethren,Each year, we produce the Middlesex Year in Review – a record and celebration of everything that has been happening across our Province during the Masonic year. The latest edition, covering 2025/26, brings together stories from our Lodges and Chapters, Provincial events, charitable activities, community involvement and many of the people and occasions that have made the year memorable.Although printed copies are distributed at our Annual Meeting, we perhaps don’t make enough of the fact that the Year in Review is available for every member to read online. It is particularly worth sharing with our newer members and Light Blues.
