History of Dalhousie & Call Sign Lodge No. 865

You’ll notice we now have two lodge names after merging in 2016. We were, and to some degree remain, a lodge with a special focus, since ‘Call Sign’ Lodge was established by radio amateurs (Hams). The lodge’s distinctive logo is especially meaningful to “radio hams,” symbolising “the good earth” from which all Freemasons originate, and “the antenna,” representing the tool that unites us. Radio signals from beyond our walls serve as a reminder of our motto: “audi, vici, tace”—“listen, observe, and be silent.” It’s a fitting principle for a thoughtful mason, though even the act of listening can often be surprisingly challenging!

We are extremely pleased that our lodge and members support Dalhousie Chapter 865, helping our members gain valuable Masonic experience.

Our Lodge website https://dcs865.org.uk/ allows you find out more detail about us including some history of the two lodges, please do make a point of exploring our website.  There is a facility to send us an email on the web page if you want to contact us.

The Lodge was initially founded to provide amateur radio enthusiasts an opportunity to connect with one another in a spirit of peace and camaraderie. Today, it also welcomes new and existing members from diverse backgrounds, including those who may find it challenging to participate in Masonic activities on weekday evenings.

Licensed Radio Hams from the Whitton Amateur Radio Club have operated GB0TMC at Twickenham Masonic Centre on the popular HF Bands. These frequencies allow for both local and global contacts, enabling communication with other masons worldwide.
